Tyrone Van Aswegen is a Professional Golfer currently playing in his second season on the PGA Tour. Tyrone entered professional golf in 2004, consistently having success each year since turning professional. He earned his PGA Tour card for the 2014 season after finishing in the Top 25 ranking on the Web.com Tour in 2013. He immediately took advantage of the opportunity, playing well throughout the year, making 15 cuts in 25 PGA Tour starts, recording four Top 25 finishes and earning a high finish of 16th at the HP Byron Nelson Classic.
Mr. Van Aswegen played collegiately at Oklahoma City University and became the first former Oklahoma City University golfer to earn his PGA Tour card. At OCU, he captured the 2002 NAIA individual championship. He was a three-time All-American and led OCU to four national championships from 2000-04. He graduated in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration.
Tyrone was born on January 6th, 1982 in Johannesburg, South Africa and now lives in McKinney, Texas with his wife Cristin and their daughter Scarlett. He became a U.S. Citizen on June 19th, 2013 in a ceremony in San Diego, California.
When he is not traveling extensively for golf, Tyrone enjoys quiet time with his family, reading, watching movies, and enjoying a good bottle of wine. Tyrone is a big sports fan, supporting the Springboks in Rugby, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys in Football. His favorite athlete is tennis icon Roger Federer and his dream golf foursome would certainly include Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan – both of whom he considers among the greatest ball strikers of all time.read full biography
